Osso
by Renata Certo-Ware
Every bone of you is in every part of my flesh
like a fossil embedded in a stone or
a city built beneath another city or
a nail, unseen, lodged in the wood of a doorway or
the husk of a wasp trapped inside of a fig or
a vein of quartz immortalized by lightning or
the hull of a boat crashing through a wave or
the root of a tree that's grown around a fence
only it doesn't hurt.
