I like to believe that walls can talk. The walls of our living room, on the other hand, tell stories of all the places my boyfriend and I have visited, lived in, and love. We each lived in different cities before moving to Philadelphia, so we have posters of Washington D.C. (him) and Boston (me) hanging up, alongside some maps and other posters and prints. My newest addition is this black&white print from Modern Map Art.
The "Vote with Your Wallet" movement is exhausting and important and scary. Instead of getting sucked into a witch hunt, I'm shouting out the indie brands and artists that are doing some good with their wares by donating a portion (or in some cases, all) of their proceeds to the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, and elsewhere.
Tucked away at the end of a covered walkway, in a beautiful piazza flanked by pink and baby blue spiral staircases, Calypso St. Barth feels like a destination as discreet and full of treasures as its namesake island.
UK favorite FatFace is heading stateside this Fall, so I took my own look from the brand, a lightweight rain jacket, out for a spin in sometimes sunny, sometimes-pouring rain Florida.
Alexa Buckley and Sarah Pierson, founders of Margaux. a newly-launched line of custom, made-to-measure ballet flats, spent four years at Harvard before making the move to NYC to start their company. For these ballet-flat-loving beauties, the future is bright and the cocktails are hard-earned. See where the ladies love to eat, shop and play in both cities.
DEE OCLEPPO HILFIGER has led many lives. Now, the Rhode Island native is back in the US, married to Tommy Hilfiger, raising another young son, and heading a handbag brand that has already been picked up by Saks Fifth Avenue, Harrods, Hudson Bay and Galeries Lafayette in its first year on the market.
You know what's not cute? Plodding through the airport in ratty sweatpants. We've all seen it, and some of us (ahem) have done it. (Hey, it was an early flight!) But you don't need to tell that to Dorian Lightbown, NIC+ZOE founder and CEO, who designs for jet-setting cool girls.
One of Boston's best bag designers just so happens to also be one of Boston's best interior designers. Meichi Peng has been doing it all for over a decade now, from her perch in Boston's arts-centric SoWa.
There are so few places in Boston where you can get a Tom Ford makeover, drink a Damascus Date smoothie, shop and shop some more, and then eat yaki soba, all without ever having to face the rain, snow, wind, or extreme heat of any given day in Beantown. (As if!)
East-meets-West is the most overused cliché when it comes to Turkey, but when attempting to describe the country - and Istanbul, a city that refuses to be defined - it’s often glaringly relevant.
Call off the Uber. From noshing on Spanish tapas to drinking craft beer in Alphabet City or perusing vintage clothes and jewelry from indie designers, you never need to leave Downtown NYC.
